I wondered why grocery stores did not offer a special grocery store the things they knew they were going to lose?
Why Why allow this to happen http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Hurricane-Ike-grave-site-blues-musician-Clarence-Gatemouth-Brown-seen-Hollywood-Cemetery/ss/events/us/091208hurricaneike/s : / # PhotoViewer ap/20080915/ap_on_re_us/ike_restless_dead = / i 080915/480/9a7f947357f14d0aa4fd632dda11211a: at least if they had sold one small does not serve the total loss. and people could eat a few things before it was bad at least long enough until help arrived markets are really greedy prefer rot things that are sold at a low price that I mean before a storm like a hurricane
I guess most of us who were in Hurricane Ike bought all the canned goods, knowing that only he could buy for many bags of ice to keep our frozen and refrigerated foods cold. Without electricity for at least three days, the ice will melt in the heat and humidity in the South. We bought six bags of ice and used every one of them. The city of Houston and many of their "neighborhoods peripherals remain without electricity and drinking water. All the shops closed early to allow employees to go home and prepare for the hurricane, too. Frozen food products that have been shown to have spoiled us too, and stores probably would not have given away frozen foods, taking into account that many people and shops are still without electricity. I believe that many discount stores, was probably quite good in many of the products I knew that people really going to need more. And fortunately, the governor of Texas ordered that no store can raise their prices. This is what tends to disadvantage people following a hurricane ... us the price of gasoline, food and basic needs. When more than 5.5 million people in Houston and surrounding areas, stores run out of stock very quickly, especially when people are buying what they need in large quantities. We were lucky because we had to go without electricity for three days and all of our ice had melted yet, but cool. Our power was on Friday at 10:00 pm and returned on Monday at noon. But still There are millions of people less than 5 miles away who have no power at all and a few lucky ones are running on generators. The wait for ice, milk, yogurt, eggs and frozen or refrigerated food for those who have their electricity back is approximately four hours in line. The day after the Hurricane Ike made landfall in our area, my mother-in-law was asking my husband to take back home because where she lives, received very little damage and not lose their electricity throughout the hurricane. In many other places, many roads are impassable. And most of us in this suburban area suffered major damage from trees size that fell or broke in half. All of us on this street will need new roofs, new fences, and some also have new carpet and furniture. Depending on the area you live in and what condition it was in his house to start with will determine how much FEMA assistance will be needed to some of the less fortunate. Some people lost everything they had. But as I said we were lucky compared to people from other parts of the area. All our Students go to school for two weeks here due to the amount of rain damage was done. Our son goes to a new high school and suffered much damage (it is is only four years old and they are building a school every year so they can accommodate more students even). At this time, enrollment is a little above 3000 and high school is maxed out its capacity. When they built this school, nobody can anticipate how many children go to this school. Some children are transplanted from our biggest high schools and others are new residents of Texas. Through a baseball field and conclusion pond (basically what our backyard is over) is a primary school and a middle school just a couple of football fields length apart. They also will have to rebuild much of these two schools that received more rain damage. And both schools are less than fifteen years of age, be very well, and still was not enough to avoid damaging the roofs and gyms. At least, still standing! We live 40 miles northeast of Galveston and did not suffer nearly as much damage like many other people who became much closer to a large body of water. Winnie, Bridge City and all the cities shown on the map are all closer to the Gulf of Mexico, so of course, the closer you are from the Gulf of Mexico, the more they would lose. Another key factor is that all these people that shown are the cities that have to go through to get to Louisiana, which is a huge body of water and swamps. Galveston was demolished, but still was not as bad as the 1900 hurricane that killed so many people. At least most people who lived in Galveston were told to evacuate this time. Now with the advanced weather radar systems we, men and women of the time knew exactly what we were in for the occasion. Thanks for your concern. I really appreciate it.
